Surviving the Death Loop

A Death Loop can occur if your control lines get tangled on the kite bar and/or your harness hook. This can result in the safety release systems getting jammed which can render a normal safety release difficult or impossible.

This video from Anton Chernyshov explains how the lines can get tangled to cause a death loop and how to fix it.

The basic technique is:

    • Identify which control (outside) line is NOT powered

    • Reach up, grab it and pull it in - the kite will stop looping and back stall

    • Untangle your lines on the kite bar and/or harness hook

Caution

DO NOT loop a kite line around fingers or your hand - this could result in serious injury.
